How do I get started? May I meet with you about my wedding cake?
You have 2 options. We do free and open tastings Sundays 1-3 with no appointment necessary, where you get to try 5 flavors, look at books, and get questions answered. It’s a really good way to get started and meet us.
…Or you can book a consultation. Consultations are done outside of the Sunday 1-3pm tasting time. At the consultation we actually talk specifics such as design, delivery time, flavors, and pricing. So if your aim is to taste more cake, then Sunday 1-3 is your time. If you would actually like to sit down and get a quote on your wedding cake, then scheduling a consult is the right thing to do. You will still get all 5 flavors for the Sunday tastings if you schedule the consult for Sunday before or after the 1-3 slot (no consultations between Sunday 1-3pm). Consultations on days other than Sunday will include 2 flavors to taste.

Does the bakery supply the flowers?
If the flowers are made of buttercream or sugar, yes. Fresh flowers should be provided by the florist. Please make sure the florist washes the pesticides off of the flowers prior to application, and that they have confirmed that your variety of flowers are not poisonous.
Can I have more than one flavor of cake?
Do you charge extra for standard fillings/to fill your wedding cakes?
Does fondant taste good? What is fondant? How much is it?
Fondant is a sugar dough that is made of gum ingredients, powdered sugar and corn syrup. It traditionally does not taste good, because most vendors use the stuff off the craft store shelf. We, however, use a premium product which is the same brand that The Cake Boss uses. It is much softer and tastier. Our brand is also vegan.
Without fondant, the upper edges of the cake tier will look more like the upper cake below with crisper edges. The picture beneath is a cake covered in Fondant. Fondant provides a look that can not be matched with buttercream. It also has a “glow” that can not be replicated in buttercream. We’ll cover your wedding cake in fondant for $32/tier.
Does the same person bake the cake who frosts the cake?
Not usually, unless we absolutely have to. The owner can bake, but our pastry chef and her assistant are much better at baking. You can check out our staff, so you know who is making it here.
Are your cakes frozen, or baked elsewhere and delivered for decoration?
No, our wedding cakes are not frozen. We feel that if someone is paying you to make them something wonderful, it truly should be wonderful. Our kitchen is on site at The Makery Cake Company, and we bake to order right onsite.
Can you make allergen free cakes?
We are sensitive to people with allergies such as nuts, gluten, dairy, etc. Although these items are used on premises, we will do our utmost to fulfill any allergen free orders you may have. We are also a nut-free facility. Please let us know if we need to consider allergies with your order.
What is a sugar artist?
Your sugar artist is the person who will be creating the decor on your wedding cake. We feel it is imperative to talk to the person actually doing the decorating of your cake. You should feel confident that your vision of the perfect cake was understood by the person taking the order.
Can I meet the person who will decorate my wedding cake?

The process of making your custom edible work of art starts weeks in advance, from processing the order to ordering the professional supplies needed to craft your particular ridiculous cake. As you can tell, we pay the utmost attention to detail, and start making precision pieces of your order well ahead of time. We are in high demand, and reserve your spot in our schedule as we sell out every week. It is for these reasons your custom cake order is unable to be cancelled.
Private lesson cancellation policy
The process of preparing for your lesson starts days in advance and our schedule is in high demand. If you do not cancel 48 hours in advance, your $60 per hour teaching fee as well as the cost of the supplies for the lesson are non-refundable.
Party cancellation policy
The process of preparing for your party starts days in advance and our schedule is in high demand. If you do not cancel 48 hours in advance, your deposit is forfeited. If you have to reschedule within 48 hours, you have the option of having the cakes preserved in a freezer for your future date, or losing the initial $50 deposit for the party.
Wedding cake cancellation policy
By putting down a retainer with us, we in turn reserve your space for that date. We can only do so many cakes per day here at The Makery Co.™. If you cancel your cake order, for any reason, 25% of the total price is a non-refundable retainer. If you cancel within 7 days of the wedding, you forfeit the entire value of the order. You may reschedule your wedding cake for another date up to 60 days previous without penalty. However, the 25% retainer will be lost if rescheduled within 60 days as we have reserved a spot for you on your day, and will lose the ability to fill that vacancy on short notice
